"Another donation pool? They must be crazy."
You snickered at your friend as you walked down the boardwalk.
"Nothing, it's just you said donation pool, and they're a swim team, and forget it I'm dumb," You said between laughs. She sighed as you approached the group. The blonde one was shouting something at the top of his lungs while glasses was trying to quiet him down.
"Donate five cents to the swim team, get a hug from one of us!"
"Nagisa, you've nearly deafened half the people on the street. I'd be surprised if all of town didn't know what we're doing by now."
"Rei-chan! You said we couldn't wear speedos, so I get to yell as much as I want."
Glasses (or Rei, rather) flopped back on a chair in defeat. Two other guys sat behind the table and bucket. One was deep in thought counting coins, and the other was moving to stand...
Oh my fucking god he's tall and hot.
Your hand plunged into your bag, desperately grasping for something that felt like a nickel. It was your friend's turn to laugh now.
"Oh my god, you and your thing for tall guys."
"Look at him, dude! His abs are PERFECTION! I don't think he was here last time, was he here last time? Do you think if I donate a twenty he'll hug me forever?"
You were stopped in your tracks when you realized you were two feet away from the stand. The guy you had been eyeballing earlier glanced up at you and quickly looked back down. He pulled a piece of paper over and began writing something with vigor.
You found a nickel in your bag and shyly walked up to them, trying to look as graceful as you could compared to the meltdown you had had ten feet away. You placed the coin on the table and turned to face him. He smiled at you, closing his eyes a bit.
Seriously, does he want me to have a heart attack?
"Makoto, you got this one?" The one counting coins inquired.
"Yeah." He turned back to you and opened his arms, shrugging questioningly.
You wanted to launch yourself into his arms and wrap your legs around his strong-looking waist and cling to him like a sloth for the rest of your life, but instead you awkwardly shuffled forwards and wrapped your arms around his shoulders. He held you by your waist, gently, and the only thoughts going through your mind were Damn, he's a good hugger and Touch his butt guuuurl. Halfway through breaking out of the hug, he took your hands and pulled you flush against him, leaning over to whisper to you.
"Take this," he said, and you could hear the nervous smile in his voice. You felt him press something into your hand before he pulled away and rejoined his friends.
You walked back to your friend, unfolding the piece of paper that Makoto had given you. Numbers were written hastily onto the paper, along with "Call me, I loved your excitement! -Tachibana Makoto". He had scribbled a little smile next to his name. You blushed, realizing he had seen your fangirling earlier.
"So, how was the hug...what's that?" Your friend asked you. You simply turned to her with an ear-to-ear smile on your face.
She smirked. "He gave you his number, didn't he?" You made noises like a deflating balloon and began to ramble again as she dragged you into a store.
"Should I call him now, or wait until later? I don't want to blow him off, but I don't want to seem to eager either. Oh my god though, his hair was amazing, what shampoo do you think he uses..." You trailed off and looked at the paper again, clutching it close to your chest.
Questions could wait.
